Seedance as a model family

Seedance is a video-model family from the ByteDance Seed team. User-facing products and the cloud platform may provide different releases. Before starting, check the selected model’s name and terms: a neighbouring release may have different capabilities.

Official descriptions emphasise movement, following instructions and coherent scenes. Recent releases develop reference-based work and support for several input materials. Do not apply one release’s specifications to the whole service: particular limits are published separately.

Task in the language of the scene

Describe what is in the scene, what changes and how the camera moves. “Cinematic” does not replace those decisions. For a sequence of shots, define each shot’s purpose and transition. A reference helps demonstrate movement, composition or style that words cannot convey precisely.

Example: an object moving in a studio scene

Imagine a short clip of a table lamp. The first shot shows its full shape, the second shows the light switching on, and the final shot leaves a subdued composition for a caption. Test the central action first: does the lighting change correctly while the object’s geometry remains intact?

References and official access

If you use other people’s videos as references, make sure you have permission to upload them. Compare the result with your original task, rather than the impact of a demonstration clip. For a real product, precise details and markings must be preserved; generated lettering may require separate editing.

The official Seed website links to ByteDance products and its cloud Playground. A model family and a consumer plan are different things. Region, account, release and integration method affect capabilities and costs. For recurring generation, allow for retries and a manual review stage in advance.
