Consider Midjourney when you need to explore a visual direction: a character concept, the mood of a future shoot, an illustration or a series of stylistic variations. You describe the scene, choose parameters and refine a promising result. The tool supports a creative process rather than the literal reproduction of a technical drawing.

Before starting, it is useful to determine which elements are fundamental: object, composition, light, material or mood. If you list everything at once without priorities, a beautiful image may not be suitable for the task.

References and style controls

You can add images to a prompt. The official help distinguishes regular Image Prompts from Style References: one guides content and composition, while the other guides appearance. Neither promises to copy the original completely.

For a series, keep a clear reference set and change one condition at a time. This makes results easier to compare and helps you choose a direction. Use other people’s images only with the necessary rights.

What to do after generation

Work continues after the first variations. Midjourney offers scale and image-boundary changes, variations and Editor for further processing. Organize helps store and find generated material.

The official service also supports video work. If you need to edit a long video, check the available operations, export options and limits beforehand: motion generation alone does not make the product a complete video editor.

How to Compare Options

Choose images for the task, not just their visual impact. A cover needs heading space and a scene readable at a small size. A mood board needs consistent lighting, materials and colour. A character needs features that repeat in later scenes.

Keep a brief note on why one option is selected. With the next generation, it will help to formulate the query more accurately. Dozens of random edits give many images, but without the selection criterion, they may not come close to the desired result.

Subscription and visibility of creations

The official guide suggests starting with a subscription. Plans differ in computing time, queues, modes and privacy. Stealth Mode is available only in certain plans, so do not upload confidential references on the assumption that they are private by default.

Commercial terms depend on the subscription and the user’s or company’s status. Check them before publishing. We do not describe third-party “API Midjourney” services as an official programmatic interface.
