## What tasks is Kimi suited to?

Kimi is Moonshot AI’s official assistant, focused on knowledge work, reasoning and programming tasks. The web interface offers conversations and agent workflows. The developer platform separately describes models, visual inputs, file handling and tools.

Context capacity is not the only consideration. Even if a document fits in a prompt, check the answer against the original. Asking about a specific section, finding conditions or comparing clauses is more useful than expecting one message to produce a flawless understanding of the whole archive.

## How to work through a long piece of content

Start with structure: provide a table of contents or key passages and ask a question. Request the passage supporting each conclusion. If files use the same names for different concepts, explain the terms in advance. This reduces the risk of mixing document versions or separate projects.

## Practical example: comparing two sets of regulations

Use three columns: the old provision, the new provision and the possible consequence of the change. Separately request no legal conclusions and ask for ambiguous wording to be marked. Open the highlighted clauses afterwards and check that shortening has not removed exceptions.

The same sequence works for documentation and code: establish module purposes, propose a limited change and test it. State the expected program behaviour in the prompt.

## Web Service and API

Kimi API has its own keys, models and billing rules. The official documentation describes compatible request formats, multi-turn conversations and tool calling. A web-service subscription and API usage are separate ways to access the models. Before uploading internal files, check the storage conditions and regional availability of the service.
